There’s nothing quite like going to the spa at a five-star hotel. From the moment I stepped foot into the Miraj Hammam Spa at the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto, I knew that I was in good hands. This luxurious spa is brought to you by the skincare experts at Caudalie Paris so you know you’re in for a treat with such a world-renowned brand behind it.
Located on the fifth floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, the Miraj Hammam Spa is beautifully decorated with marble fountains, intricate woodwork and rich tapestries – it brought back fond memories of my trip to Istanbul last summer.
Upon arrival, I was provided with a lovely tour of the facility and was then escorted to the ladies change room where I was provided with a robe and slippers for my comfort.
The spa has nine treatment rooms where guests can enjoy various treatments including massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and of course their signature hammam and gommage treatment. I was thrilled to be treated to this signature treatment which begins with a 15 minute private steam in one of the spas two large traditional hammams. I made myself comfortable on the gold marble with a tall glass of water and a towel. The stresses of the day just melted away as I allowed the calming eucalyptus infused steam to engulf my body.
After the steam, I was guided to an adjoining room (also completely private) where I was treated to a full body scrub AKA “gommage” using luxurious black Moroccan soap. This experience is incredibly detoxifying in addition to feeling wonderful and leaving my skin as soft as silk. It’s the perfect treatment for dry skin after the long and harsh winter we’ve had. Once the scrub is complete, you rinse off and unwind in the cozy relaxation room – beds, pillows and the Miraj signature Moroccan tea service including baklava and grapes.
I relaxed in the lounge sipping tea for about 3o minutes before heading back to the change room. It was a treat to enjoy Caudalie face and body products after my treatment. Spa guests can also take advantage of the Health Club at the hotel which includes a full swimming pool, whirlpool, additional steam rooms and an infrared sauna.
I would highly recommend visiting the Miraj Hammam Spa at the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto. The signature hammam and gommage treatment is truly the best I’ve experienced in Toronto and leaves you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated – treat yourself!
